John here:
As Reptet brings this year to a close, we will be celebrating 2009 in Portland, Oregon at the Doug Fir Lounge on December 15th. This show is gonna be fun. We’re playing with the amazing Andrew Oliver Sextet (check out Andrew’s Blog here and his myspace page here). We’ve never played at the Doug Fir before, but have heard a lot of good things about it. It’s a Tuesday night so we’re gonna need a lot of promo and word of mouth in order to gets the peoples out…tell your Portland friends!

We’re looking forward to 2010 with a big show in White Center, more tours and maybe a new CD. Hope you can join us.

Thanks Everybody

Commit Agendacide at the Tractor this Thursday

Hello Repnation,
John here: Our west coast tour was a great success featuring El Día de los Muertos parades in the Mission District of San Francisco, new celebrity fans, amazing workshops with the students at CalArts & University of Nevada, appreciative fans buying us hotel rooms and jazz organizations clamoring to get us down there again for special shows. Thanks to all of you that came out.

But now comes the event of the year…at least from a Reptet perspective.

The Seattle Agendacide Record Release Party this Thursday, 11/19. Agendacide is being released as a 45RPM vinyl record and digital download only. We are all beginning to move past the CD format people. The record comes with a code so you can download the mp3’s for you iPod and computer listening enjoyment, but you can also just purchase the digital files (in case you no longer, or never owned a turntable).

The party is going to be really fun and will feature Sam’s other project Orkestar Zirkonium kicking off the festivities. O.Z. describe themselves as, “a mobile, fourteen-member brass-and-drum ensemble that borrows from a variety of musical traditions, composes original music, and kicks out celebratory spectacle in a variety of circumstances. Zirkonium members hail from Circus Contraption, the Infernal Noise Brigade, the Anti-Fascist Marching Band, Reptet, the Empty Cage Quartet, the Fremont Philharmonic, and other groups; our songs draw from Eastern European / Roma brass, klezmer, Bollywood soundtracks, Ethiopian jazz, punk, funk, hiphop, and other musical idioms.”

Once agAin we are assured that we will find much classic rock. We All make our calls on what we will hear on this trip. I’m not sure what to pick… So far brown eyed girl, feels like the
first time, green eyed lady, aqualung, roundabout has been called. I’ve just decided to call lucky man. StAy tuned and we will let you know who the winner of reptets “greatest music ever recorded” classic rock radio wager is.

Reptet Supports the Pubic Option

Americans would have the option to let their pubic hair grow out freely without shame, regardless of occupation or inclination or to have there pubes neatly trimmed (or totally removed) by themselves or a professional pube primper. Having the pubic option means that Americans would have a choice of keeping the pubes they currently have, paying a professional to stylize their pubic hair, or shaving it all off completely in the privacy of their own kitchen.

Christian Jazz???

Since 95% of our music is instrumental, could we just call our music, ‘Christian Jazz’ and rake in the cash? I mean, would that be wrong?  These people are just gonna give their money to the Family Research Council any way.  Maybe we could change our name to something like ‘Jesus of Jazareth’? Or ‘Modern Mary Sextet’?  I think we need to seriously look into this.  Hmmm
